Recording Your Video Conference

To record your videoconference using a VCR, use the following steps.

  • Plug in the video and audio cables from the Videoconferencing Unit to the "Line In" inputs of the VCR.
  • Plug the video and audio cables into the "Line Out" outputs (or, if you are using the coaxial cable, the "Out to TV" connection) from the the VCR and into the TV or Monitor.
  • When plugging in the video and audio from the VCR to the TV, make note of which input you use on the TV. They will be listed next to the connections on the back of the set. Turn on the TV and select the corresponding input.
  • Most TVs have a button on the remote (and on the front of the set) labeled "TV/VCR." Press this button until the input you selected appears on the screen. Place the TV on Channel 3 or 4 if you are using the coaxial cable from the VCR.
  • On your VCR's remote, there should be a button marked "Input." If there is no input button, select Channel 2 and press the Channel Down button until you see "AUX" or "Line 1" appear on the display window of the VCR (on some models, selecting Channel "00" will change the VCR to the line input). Remember that all VCRs are different - buttons may be labeled differently.
  • You should now see an image of your video conference in the monitor. Please verify that you have an audio signal coming through the TV, but don't leave the volume turned up because this may cause feedback (a loud screeching noise) between the TV and the videoconferencing microphones.
