Many times, PowerPoint, or other types of slide shows are utilized during a video conference. Here are a few simple tips to ensure your presentation is a success.
- Use the colors provided in the text box - they are chosen for clarity and readability.
- Keep bulleted information concise and to the point (no complete sentences).
- Have no more than six bullets per text box.
- Use no more than two text boxes per page. Limit bullets to four per box.
- Stick to large fonts for clarity and readability.
- Use more slides, rather than trying to squeeze too much information into fewer slides.
- Use charts, graphs and pictures to convey your message in place of text - people remember illustrations better than they do text.
- Use high-resolution graphics to keep them from looking fuzzy.
- Keep sounds on slides to a minimum.
- Keep slide transitions simple.
- Minimize the number of slides with build effects for lines of text (flying, whirling, etc.).
- To have the same text or object on every slide:
- Click on "View"
- Click on "Master"
- Click on "Slide Master" and insert objects on slide
- To check how your slides will print:
- Select "View," then "Black and White"
- Right-click on the box you want to change (text box, graph, picture, etc.) and select "Black and White"
- Select appropriate color combination for the object (black with white fill, grayscale, etc.)
- To exit, click "View," then "Black and White" again
- To view for readability, step back from your PC screen about four feet. See if your slides convey the message you want to get across.
